My Weekend in the TX
I met her on an island in Nebraska.
Something told me that she was something special to me.
I asked her out to a movie.
She said "yes", and my heart got all warm and melty.
Minutes came, hours passed, days went.
By then, we were a unity.
We had become inseperable from each other.
So, I told her, "Come with me".
We ended up packing the truck.
The bags, the rags, and the rum.
Going for a winter vacation,
To a little south of tranquility we would come.
Took our ride to Corpus Christi.
Parked right out on the beach.
Cracked open an ice cold.... Pepsi.
Took in the waves that would stretch and reach.
I gave her a sand-wash.
She did the same to me.
We laughed and rolled on each other into the gulf,
Happily.
We later walked down the beach,
Eyes to eyes, hand in hand.
She was my girl.
I was her man.
Lost into each other's eyes,
I didn't know how we survived.
But we were going to love each other,
We would have the night of our lives.
I came to awaken feeling well,
But she was not the same.
I was ready for the warm day,
But she didn't want to play my games.
Things went south from then on.
I returned to the room.
She was leading another man on......
I drove home from Texas.
Alone, my heart wrenched with pain.
Not going back for her,
Not going back again.
I had to take out my anger,
Just as mean as I could be,
So I pulled an "Ozzy" on the Alamo,
And got away scot-free!
I look back on my time,
In the Corpus Christi Sun,
So many Texas roads lead to heartbreak,
Well....
I guess I've traveled one.
